On the first day of class, EFA holds a Welcome Coffee, when parents can meet the teaching team and learn about the social and cultural events EFA holds throughout the year. You’ll also hear about the many volunteer opportunities that you can sign up for. The back-to-school coffee hour is a chance to mix and mingle, get to know each other, and get ready for a great year.

Every two weeks, before and after classes, EFA sells croissants and chocolate croissants, made by a French baker. These bake sales are a practical and delicious fundraiser for EFA!

Every other week, our school librarian comes with a wide selection of books in French that students can borrow to read at home. Our library includes novels, magazines, picture books, comic books, and more - there is something for everyone! Borrowing a book allows children to practice reading in French at home, either on their own or with parents.

EFA holds several movie days throughout the year. Movies are open to Austin’s whole French-speaking community. Staff and volunteers select high-quality, age-appropriate films. All movies are in French, with selections for different age groups (4-6 years, 7-11 years, and 12 and older). Movie afternoons take place on selected Saturdays, after class. Students can bring a bag lunch to eat after class, then stay for the movie.

EFA also organizes Game Days. Students can choose from various building games, board games, role-plays, etc. There is a wide selection of games, for all levels and interests. Game Days are open to the whole French-speaking community. The only requirements are to speak French, use courtesy, and be good sports!

Throughout the year, parents are invited to share their culinary talents in order to raise funds for EFA. Bake sales are usually organized around a theme or a type of dish. Not only does everyone get to enjoy homemade treats, but these fundraisers help support EFA now and for the future.

On the last day of classes before Christmas break, students prepare a performance. Students get to show some of the progress they have made, and everyone can enjoy holiday treats and chance to chat and mingle.

Each February, EFA invites Austin’s French-speaking community to share crepes, cider, crafts, games, and fun. Children can enjoy games, face-painting, mask decorating, and other fun activities. A French movie, selected for younger children, is also shown.

The last Saturday of our school year is a moment of fun! Families are invited to watch students give their end-of-year presentations, which aim to show how much progress they have made in French throughout the year. Afterwards, families can stay for a carnival with plenty of games, prizes, treats, and fun.
