Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française (DELF)

The DELF is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of National Education to certify French language skills.

DELF A1, A2, B1 and B2

The DELF comprises four independent diplomas, corresponding to the four levels of the European Framework of Reference for Languages: A1 - A2 - B1 - B2.

Recognition of the language level, at level B2, is requested by many French universities in France and French-speaking countries.

EFA is a DELF exam center

Since 2019, France Education International, operating under the French Ministry of National Education, has allowed FLAM associations in the U.S. to offer to test for the DELF Junior. As a member of the FLAM USA network, EFA is considered a DELF Junior testing site with certified proctors and graders.

Four laguage skills

At each level (DELF A1, A2, B1 and B2), the four language skills are assessed: oral comprehension, written comprehension, oral expression, and written expression.

Each skill is evaluated on 25 points. The minimum score required for each skill is 5 points.

At least fifty points total are required to pass.

Exam modality

The exam is made up of 2 parts:

  • The written tests (oral and written comprehension and written expression)

  • The individual oral expression test

Diploma validity

The diploma is valid for life and is recognized internationally.

The so-called "junior" DELF is the version set up for teenagers outside the French school system. DELF exams assess communication skills. A young learner will be placed in a context that will make him react more easily in the "junior / school" version and he will thus be able to demonstrate all his skills.
